The royal oak......

Last night we played our first gig in a while at the Royal Oak in Lydd.....We've had better nights.

The set up was strange we were in one room playing towards the rest of the pub, but between us and the audience was a wall with an arch in it. The patrons couldn't see us an I'm not sure they could hear us either. We did our best to rock the place but only a few people were really interested, the landlady had a good time and two of the locals came through to where we were an watched, so we played to them.
We had our first outing for Blackhole sun......I think it'll be the last!!! It didn't go well at all.

Despite all of this we still enjoyed crashing out the tunes and our better halves were on hand to keep it fun thank god for em, if our wives didn't come and cheers us on when the audience don't it would be much much harder work, so a special thank you to them, they make even a dull night into a good one. Roll on the 16th where we shall blast out our rockin tunes once more!!

Too pessimistic there Andy! You gotta love a place that's at the end of a sat nav-recommended route taking you along "Swamp Lane" for some miles. Certainly the pub layout requires the punters to stand very near the band or otherwise experience it from behind the dividing wall. You certainly did your best to talk them into it!

I think I made the bulk of the goofs on Black Hole Sun but for a first play it was far from shambolic. So yes, room for improvement as ever... onward and upward, and there'll be another new song ready for the next gig.
